REVEREND DR. TIGGS WASHINGTON
Presiding Elder, Milwaukee District
Rev. Dr. Tiggs E. Washington was born in Buffalo, New York. His parents are Moody and Maryetta Pugh. Rev. Washington is the youngest child out of five. Rev. Washington is married to the beautiful, Mrs. Gabrielle J. Allen-Washington. Rev. Washington is the father of one daughter, Trinity Washington.
Rev. Washington was educated in the Buffalo Public School System. In 2012, Rev. Washington earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee—with the academic distinction of Summa Cum Laude. In May 2015, Rev. Washington graduated with his Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. In June 2019, Rev. Washington graduated with his Doctor of Ministry degree from South University, with his final project entitled, Evaluating the Expansion of Evangelism in the C.M.E. Church through Social Media. In addition, Rev. Washington released his first publication entitled, Sermons for the Journey: A Collection of Sermons for the Liturgical Year in May 2018.

Rev. Washington holds memberships in numerous organizations including being life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., NAACP, Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference and others. Rev. Washington has received numerous awards and recognitions from numerous organizations. Rev. Washington served on the Committee on Ministerial Examination for the New York-Washington Annual Conference. He served as the President for the Methodist Ministers Alliance Inc in Philadelphia, and Vice President for the Philadelphia District CME Preacher’s Alliance.

Rev. Washington considers Calvary Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church in Buffalo, NY his “home” church. Rev. Washington accepted his call to preach in January 2009 at Mother Liberty CME Church in Jackson, TN at the early age of 18. He was licensed to preach in August of 2009. He was ordained Traveling Deacon in 2011 by the late Bishop Thomas Hoyt Jr., and ordained Traveling Elder by Bishop James B. Walker in August 2015. He was admitted into Full Connection in August 2017. His favorite scripture is Proverbs 16:9, which says “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

Under his first pastoral charge, Rev. Washington pastored Williams Temple C.M.E. Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for seven years. Under his leadership Williams Temple quickly experienced spiritual, fianaical, and numerical growth. In a historic move, Rev. Washington prayerfully led the congregation in selling their old church building and parsonage and securing a new edifice that is newly renovated. Rev. Washington instituted several effective outreach ministries, which include community health fairs, food pantry, Ministry in Motion Liturgical Dance, Children’s Ministry just to name a few.
In July 2022, Bishop Sylvester Williams Sr. appointed Rev. Washington to serve as the Presiding Elder of the Milwaukee District, where he currently oversees churches in the states of Wisconsin, & Illinois. In addition to being Presiding Elder, Rev. Washington was appointed to Bray Temple CME Church in Chicago, IL.
Rev. Washington also has a love for chaplaincy. In addition to providing ministry to the CME Church, Rev. Washington is a Hospice Chaplain. In Rev. Washington’s spare time, he enjoys playing basketball, football, golfing, cycling, and spending time with family.
